FROM FACADES TO STREET ART
1983 - 1987
In the early 80s, a significant transformation occurred in Silvain's work as the human presence disappeared from his paintings, marking the beginning of his hyperrealistic phase. This period was characterized by meticulous depictions of facades, their details, and words, where his technical mastery once again shone. Over time, the pristine facades in his works became dilapidated, turning into carriers of torn posters and graffiti — an early precursor to what would later be known as street art.
Silvain announced a new artistic rupture with his "facades" period, which began with highly photorealistic works that soon evolved to include graffiti and tags. These pieces, created 30 years before the street art movement gained widespread recognition, heralded the advent of this genre and showcased Silvain's innovative and forward-thinking approach to art.
